MARGARET CHRISTINA CHAPMAN (nee MacNAUGHTON) 1909 - 2004 Peacefully at Concordia Hospital on February 11, 2004, Margaret Christina Chapman passed away at the age of 94. Arthur Gordon, her husband of 57 years, predeceased her in 1991. She will be dearly missed by her sons, Les (Flora), Jack, and Bob (Enid) and grandchildren, Mark and Robyn. She is also survived by her brother Albert MacNaughton of Vancouver, and his family, brother Arthur MacNaughton of Calgary and sister Jessie Millar of Winnipeg. Floras niece and nephew, Robin and Nathan de la Cruz will also miss their "Grandma". Mom was born April 27, 1909 in Winnipeg and grew up in Elmwood. Mom married Dad in 1934 and lived in the Morse Place area for next 60 years. For the past 10 years Mom has been a resident of Oakland Gardens where she made many new friends and renewed old friendships. In 1943 the T. Eaton company employed Mom where she retired from the drapery department in 1969. After Dad retired from Eatons in 1972, they became Winter Texans for almost 10 years. In 1960, Mom and Dad built the family cottage in Point du Bois. Through the 1960s and 1970s, the cottage was filled with young people. Jack and Bobs family continue to enjoy the cottage A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, her door and her heart were always open. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and other games. The Scrabble board was usually on the dining room table where she would often play against herself. As a young woman Mom was employed as a bookkeeper and kept this discipline all her life, as all of her affairs were meticulously maintained. Mom had a great memory and could often tell you how much an item cost or where she obtained it, no matter how old it was. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for the wonderful care and support they provided Mom. A memorial service will be held at Klassen Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Christmas Cheer Board in her memory.
