We are all on loan from the Lord and on Thursday, February 12, 2004, after a courageous battle, Boyd’s loan was called in and he returned home, at the age of 55 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Phyllis; son Perry Hyde (Linda) daughter Ria Hyde (Trevor) brother Floyd (Dorrie) of Denbigh, ON and three sisters, Noreen (Eric) English, Carol Laudrie and Shirley (Jim) Stewart, all of Ontario. Boyd also leaves a multitude of friends all over Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario. He was predeceased by his son Greg; his parents, Bert and Edna; his sister Mary and brother-in-law Noel.
Boyd was born in Kingston, ON on June 15, 1948 and moved to Manitoba in 1978. He married the love of his life Phyllis in 1995 and together they lived in East Selkirk. He worked most of his life as a heavy equipment mechanic. He also drove truck all over North America, the last three years on the ice roads, driving all the way to the Hudson Bay Coast in the winter of 2002/03. Boyd also loved music and spent many years playing various instruments. He was an active member of the Selkirk Red River AA Group and spent many hours at meetings and coffee shops talking and sharing, giving freely of his time sponsoring his many "pigeons."
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and an evening memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Saude officiating. A private family interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
All Boyd’s friends can consider themselves honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Boyd’s memory can be made to the Greg Nordal Bicycle Safety Rodeo, Box 132, RR3, Group 327, Selkirk, MB R1A 2A8 or Kids Fishing For a Cure.
