EMERY JOSEPH HOUDE Peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Victoria General Hospital, Emery passed away at the age of 82 years. Left to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Madeline; his sister Bernice (Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions, Brandon, MB) brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Emery was predeceased by his parents, Aurlie and Emile; his brothers, Eugene, Rene, Ovide, Narcisse; his sisters, Antonia (Tony), Ida, as well as five other siblings at a very early age. Emery was born on February 21, 1921 in Ste. Rose Du Lac. In the early 1940s he moved to Winnipeg and worked on a dairy farm where he met his wife Madeline. Later he worked for National Cartage until he retired. He spent many summers at Pioneer Beach where he enjoyed fishing, Belguim Bowling and cribbage with his nieces, nephews and friends. Emery was a very hard worker, building three houses in his spare time. Emery was a kind hearted, light spirited man who was liked by all that entered his life. He was especially loved dearly by his nieces and nephews. He was an active member of the Catholic church and often helped with collection at mass. Prayers will be said with funeral service to follow on Monday, February 16 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. with Rev. Dr. Patrick A. Morand The Celebrant. Pallbearers are Lucien Houde, Emile Houde, Donald Bonne, Jim Bonne, Gerald Shactay and Calvin Vermeulen. The family wishes to express many thanks to Dr. Hayward and the staff on 5th floor at Victoria Hospital for the excellent care and compassion they provided Emery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emerys memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
