Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD DUNCAN LEWIS GRANT It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Donald Duncan Lewis Grant of Winnipeg, MB. Donald passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at the age of 62 years. Donald lost his lengthy battle with lung cancer and heart disease after a three-week stay in the hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Duncan and Charlotte Grant. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Verna; his children, Darrell (Wendy), Kevin and Calvin (Darlene) his sister Kay, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from the Morden area. Donald was born in Crystal City, MB on June 3, 1941 and grew up in the Pilot Mound area. Donald originally started his professional career as an automobile mechanic, working in a garage but had to give that up due to health concerns. He then turned to the trucking industry, travelling for many years throughout North America. He had the opportunity to experience many places ranging from Mexico to the frozen lakes of the far North and to the mountains of the West Coast. Later on in life, Donald settled into the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator, all the while, helping to raise his three sons. Once his sons were grown, he returned to the trucking industry, back to the travel that he so loved until his illness prevented him from driving safely. Donald liked the outdoors, camping and fishing in the Whiteshell area with his family. He also enjoyed hunting as a hobby. Donald instilled in his sons the values of honesty and hard work which helped mould them into the fine gentlemen they are today. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St. in St. Boniface on Monday, February 16 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place in Brookside Cemetery on Notre Dame Avenue following the service. Donalds family would like to offer special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre for their efforts and the wonderful care given to Donald during his stay there.
