Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERONICA BRUYERE (nee SPENCE) November 28, 1924- February 13, 2004 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grand-mother Veronica at the George Guimond Care Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1975, and daughters, Norma Guimond (1979 ) and Julie Cook (2002) as well as baby John in infancy. She was predeceased by grandchildren, Baron (1998), Sandra (1994) and Rhiannon (1974). She was also predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Louise Spence. Veronica was born into a family of 19 children. She leaves to mourn her sisters, Sophie Morrisseau and Nora Fontaine and brother Conrad Spence. Mom had 13 children. She leaves to mourn Annette Bruyere, Lillian Boyko, Jean Courchene, Edward Bruyere, Leon Bruyere, Karyn Bruyere, Iris Bruyere, Marlene Bruyere (Faron), Alvin Bruyere (Pat), and Denise Bruyere (Alvin). Mom also raised many of her grandchildren, Elvis, Sandra, Charlene, Donavon, Mike and Arian as well as others she kept in her care periodically. She will be sadly missed by her 58 grandchildren and 127 great- grandchildren and 16 great-great- grandchildren. Mom was blessed with many gifts. She was very creative - designing and sewing wedding dresses and baking wedding cakes. She made clothes for all the kids and every winter would knit and crochet sweaters, hats, mitts and scarfs. She was also resourceful - fishing and snaring rabbits to make hearty meals for friends and family. She sang in Ojibwe and was light on her feet when jigging. Later in life she was an avid bingo player. She had a big heart, her door was always open. Though she never had much, she never said no to sharing what she had. She always lent her ear to those who needed to talk and offered comforting words of wisdom. Mom was a strong, beautiful woman who will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of George Guimond Care Centre as well as to moms dear friends Virginie Bunn and Lillian Spence.
