THRONSEN (TONY) ROTINSKY It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Thronsen Rotinsky after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Friday, February 13, 2004 at his home with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his brother Edward; sister Joyce; father John and mother Mary. He leaves to cherish, his wife of 50 years, Jean; children, Lorraine Currie (Ken), Lillian Robinson (Darryl), Lawrence Rotinsky (Dawn), Lynn Loreth (Frank) and Laurie Kruizenga (Herb). Also mourning his loss are his grandchildren, Sheldon and Chelsea Currie, Shawn Robinson (Mel), Tara Sahaidak (Dale), Jennifer, Jeff, Trisha and Tyler Rotinsky, and Trevor and Tammie Loreth, as well as four great-grandchildren, Brendan and Kyle Robinson and Shane-Tyler and Brianna Sahaidak. He will be missed by sisters, Ethel Tkachuk, Gayle Hawryshko (Frank) brother Edwin (Shirley) and sister-in-law Iris Janzen (Henry) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was born in Stornoway, SK on April 1, 1930 to John and Mary Rohatynski. He married Jean on July 18, 1953 and moved to Winnipeg in 1956. He worked at Dans Beverages and Canada Packers before he began his career with the Winnipeg Transit. He worked for the Transit for 27 years retiring on April 1, 1985. Dad enjoyed 19 years of retirement during which he began his hobby of woodworking. He worked side by side with Jean and together enjoyed the many craft shows they entered. He also found a new love for travelling and was able to visit Mexico numerous times, the most recent in February, 2003. Dads passion was his family and he was so proud to be able to celebrate his and Moms 50th wedding anniversary this past summer with his children and friends. He was always available to give his kids a hand whether it was building, fixing or just fatherly advise. We would like to thank Dr. Carey Isaac for the compassion and care that he provided Dad. Mom thanks the children and all those who provided care which enabled Dad to remain at home as he had wished. Prayers will be held Monday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Eucharist Church, Watt and Munroe Avenue. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Eucharist Church. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere with reception to follow. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Sheldon, Shawn, Jeff, Tyler, Trevor and nephew Craig. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Children hardly know or guess the love their fathers cant express With thoughts he seldom said aloud, his heart is warm, his feelings proud. They do not fully understand his wisdom and his guiding hand, They do not know each helpful word holds love unspoken, hope unheard Yet as the busy years roll past, they come to understand at last The worries and the fears he knew the problem times he pulled them through, They finally learn the full extent of what a fathers love has meant and realize how great its been To have a father just like him.
