Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRETA WALSH (nee LYONS) 1909 - 2004 Peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2003 our aunt Reta Walsh passed away at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1971; brother Clifford Lyons; sisters, Bertha (Fred) Gallagher, Millie (George) Cannell, Alice (Bob) Love; and special friend Ted Bain. Reta is survived by her nieces, nephews and their families, Neil (Terri) Gallagher, Glenn (Doris) Gallagher, Carol (Jim) Gray, Betty Love, Joan McDonald, Pat (Steve) Thullner and George (May) Cannell. Reta was born in Baldur, MB in 1909 to Mary (Minnie) and Joe Lyons. The youngest of five siblings, Reta moved with her family to Winnipeg in 1929 and resided in Fort Garry most of her life. She loved life and was a very social person; she worked at the Bay for many years and was an ardent bowler with Kiwanis Ladies and the Fort Garry Seniors Mixed League. She volunteered for many years at the Red Cross, Childrens Hospital and spent numerous hours in the pool at HMCS Chippawa with Polio patients. She also received great pleasure in knitting mitts for the Xmas Cheer Board as recently as Xmas 2003. Our Family would like to extend their gratitude to the Staff of Misericordia Place Personal Care Centre for their care and compassion. A graveside service will be held at Assumption Cemetery, Portage Avenue West in mid April. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Retas memory to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St. Winnipeg MB R3C 4G2.
