Date of Passing: Feb 14, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCIENNE CECILE DOWSETT (nee BAZINET) Lucienne Cecile Dowsett left us on Valentines Day to be with her sweetheart Allen. Lou was born on April 18, 1936 in Winnipeg, MB. She was adopted a few months later by Omer (Tom) and Eva Bazinet and grew up on the farm in Abbyville, MB. To complete high school Lou moved to Eriksdale and that is where she met her Allen. After forty years together, Allen passed away suddenly on November 3, 1993. Lou loved the outdoors and especially the spring, when the fish started to jump and the golf courses turned green. Her favourite day was April 1, and her April Fools jokes are now often retold. She lived in many small towns and in Winnipeg but her heart was always in Eriksdale where she spent her last few years. Lou volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was an active member of the New Horizons Club. Friends from there came to visit her in the hospital to help keep her up to date on the Crib games. Lou loved playing cards, the race track, and the casinos where she was often lucky. Lou leaves to mourn her four children, Eva (Bruce), Tom (Eileen), John (Erika), and Carol (Pat), and her eight grandchildren, Amber, Jennifer, Charlotte, Tim, Walter, Aram, Anika and Thorton; also her mother-in-law Charlotte Dowsett. She will also be greatly missed by many other relatives and her many friends, especially her sister-in-law Elaine who was at her side throughout her illness. She was predeceased by husband Allen; her parents, Tom in 1980, Eva in 1994; grandson Allen in 1982; and her father-in-law Stan Dowsett in 1971. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eriksdale Recreational Centre with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow at a later date at the Eriksdale Cemetery. Thank you to the kind and compassionate staff at the Eriksdale Hospital, Dr. Burnett and Pastor Bill Watson, and a special thank you to Elaine and Carol who made her final weeks easier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital Guild, c/o Irene Sigurdson, Box 474, Eriksdale, MB, or to the New Horizons Club, c/o Joyce Sewell, Box 337, Eriksdale, MB. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd.
