ELSIE DYCK 1922 - 2004 In deep sorrow and pain we announce the passing of Elsie Dyck on February 12, 2004 at Oakview Place where she received great care by the staff. After spending four months in different hospitals her body finally gave up the struggle. We acknowledge her rest in Jesus, her Saviour and Redeemer. She is in eternal rest. Elsie was born in Muntau, southern Russia and lived in Tiegenhagen with her parents and relatives. In 1924, together with most of the people of Tiegenhagen, they all immigrated to Canada to start a new life. Her father died when she was very young at which time she, with her mother and siblings had to work to make ends meet. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Warkentin; brother John; sister Margaret; two sisters-in-law; uncle John, uncle Peter; nephews and nieces. Singing was a thrill for her and she served in many choirs and quartets, always ready to serve the Lord to her end. We married in 1943 and God gave us 60 years together and were able to celebrate the event on October 5, 2003. Two days later she fell and has been in hospital since. Elsie had a strong faith and served her Lord wherever she could. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We enjoyed traveling a great deal, worked for the Mennonite Central Committee for three years and were able to go back to Russia to visit her home place. Elsie leaves to mourn her passing her husband Nick; brother Jake; daughter Eleanor (Dennis), daughter Sandra (Christian) three grand-children, three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Elise was a beautiful person, strong in faith to the Lord. I will miss her. The funeral service will be held at Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, Raglan Road & Portage Avenue, on Tuesday, February 17 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to MCC, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9. Arrangements entrusted to: Birchwood Funeral Chapel 150 Penfeld Dr.; Steinbach, M-B 1-888-454-1030 or 1-204-346-1030
