JOHN (JOHANN) BRAUN 1921 - 2004 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John on February 16, 2004, at Concordia Hospital, at the age of 82. John will be held forever in the hearts of his loving wife of 54 years, Margarete (Jansen) his daughter, Erna; his brother Jacob (Betty-Ann) his brother Victor (Elfrieda) his brother Kornelias; his sister, Maria Loren; his sister, Erna Siemens; his many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hein and Hilli Jansen, Elsie and Jake Wiebe, Irene and Henry Dyck, John and Margaret Jansen, Helen and Jack Laverty, Malita Heinrichs, as well as his cousins and many nieces and nephews in Canada, Germany and the U.S.A., and special friends, Peter and Gretel Janzen. He was predeceased by his parents, Agathe and Johann, and two brothers, Heinrich and Peter. John was born in Wernersdorf, South Russia on April 4, 1921 the oldest of eight children. His early years had many hardships but in 1948, opportunity brought him to Canada where he married Margarete in 1950. His daughter was born the following year. His greatest pride and love was his family followed closely by his work of 34 years at Quality Construction (later Qualico) and his impeccable garden. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg. Interment will be held in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "The Manor Adult Day Program", 320 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2W6; or the Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg Unit 10, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
