DONALD WALTON MacLURE Donald Walton MacLure of Minitonas, MB passed away on February 13, 2004 at the age of 75 years. He was born in Swan River, MB on December 7, 1928 to William and Beatrice MacLure (Cumbers). Don received his early education at Oakhurst and completed Grade XII in Minitonas. He later completed a University of Manitoba Extension Degree in Municipal Affairs. Don married Helen Doreen Shiel of Minitonas on October 25, 1948 in Swan River. He left the family farm to enter the banking profession in Benito and Minitonas. He was employed by the Village and Rural Municipality until 1977 followed by a position with the provincial government as a Municipal Services Officer until 1989. Since then he and his wife, Helen, have resided at Wellman Lake. Don was an avid outdoorsman and loved both hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed curling and golfing. He was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge. Don is survived by his wife Helen; as well as his brother Lorne of Manning Park, B.C.; three sons, Murray (Betty) of Wainwright, AB, Donald (Bev) of Red Deer, AB, Kevin of Winnipeg, MB; and one daughter Michele of Winnipeg. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and sons, Malcolm and Duncan. The funeral service will be held on February 18 at 2:00 p.m. from the Knox United Church in Minitonas. Interment is at the Minitonas Cemetery. Pallbearers: Doug Wagner, Alvin Wiebe, Rod Stacey, Rick Wilkinson, Lawrence Hart and Keith Robb. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
