DONNA COATES 1930 - 2004 It is with deep sadness that the family of Donna Coates (nee Siemens) announces her peaceful passing on February 17, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg. Donna is survived by her loving children, Elaine (Dennis) Kohut, Doug (Phyllis) Coates, David (Muriel) Coates, Robert Coates, Susan (Jay) Zylich and Lori (Tony) Havrilenko; as well as her beloved grandchildren, James and Alan Kohut, Stephen and Zoe Coates, Kristopher Coates, Kyrstn Zylich and Steffani and Victoria Havrilenko. Donna was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Coates and sister Elizabeth (Betty) Severson. She leaves five brothers and sisters to mourn her passing, Helen Young (Winnipeg), Margaret Blehm (Meade, Kansas), Susan Huzil (Calgary), Peter Siemens (Morris) and Jake Siemens (Penticton, BC). Over the years Mom had many different hobbies that she pursued well into her retirement. She was especially fond of oil painting and gardening. Moms garden was always a pallet of incredible colour as she loved to grow a wide variety of flowers, her favourites being roses and lilies. She also had a passion for antiques and historical items from her families past. One of Moms passions was her family genealogy, as the history of her family was near and dear to her heart. She loved to talk about how her parents and grandparents came to the Morris area to farm. Mom had many stories of the successes and set backs that her family dealt with as part of life on the farm. Mom was a kind and caring person who had many friends. She cherished the friendships that she developed working as a nurses aid at the Morris General Hospital, and through her involvement in the community. The family of Donna Coates would like to express their appreciation to the fifth floor and I.C.U. nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion during mothers illness. Funeral services will be held at the Morris United Church on Friday, February 20 at 2:00 p.m. with interment in the Morris Cemetery. Mom, we will always love and cherish your memory.
