Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY CURRIE Peacefully on February 16, 2004 with Peter and Pat at her side, Mary passed away after a valiant 14-month struggle with cancer. Mary is survived by her best friend and companion of 32 years, Peter Campbell and his extended family; her sister Darlene; special aunts Alice and Naomi; step-mother Agnes; special friend Patricia Dennis; numerous other friends and relatives and her cat Lucy. Mary was born in Sprague on May 14, 1943 and educated at Cecil Rhodes, St. Marys Academy and the University of Manitoba. She eventually worked for the St. James Assiniboia School Division for 33 years, teaching at Voyageur, Lincoln, Strathmillan and Stevenson/Britannia Schools in the primary grades, retiring in 1998. In retirement Mary was able to spend three winters in the LaFeria, Texas. In the summer she made two trips to Sturgis with Peter on the Harley and spent time at Fox Lake until her illness started. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital 3N and St. Boniface Hospital CancerCare for the care and compassion shown Mary. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 in Marys name would be appreciated.
