She will be deeply missed by her family, the Brook relatives in Canada, the Epstein relatives in the U.S., her close friends, and all who were touched by her. Kira was an elementary school teacher at Chief Julius School in Ft. McPherson and was vice-president of the Beaufort Delta branch of the NWT Teachers Association. Her family has received great comfort in hearing how loved and respected Kira was by her students and colleagues, and how she was embraced fully by the Ft. McPherson community. Kira was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and raised in Winnipeg from the age of 3. She attended public school at Sacre Coeur (French Immersion), River Heights, and Kelvin in Winnipeg. Kira graduated from Kings College/Dalhousie University in Halifax, and obtained her education degree at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax. Kira taught a 2 week science in my Teacher Education Program in Inuvik, NT a few months before her passing. She gave us each a souvenir and I still have it today. I was thinking about her today and came across this. She was an amazing teacher, loved her style of teaching. Will always remember her laugh. I heard the kids just loved her as well in Chief Julius School. Rest in Peace Kira! Thanks for the memories. - Posted by: Anna Pingo (Former Student) on: May 12, 2015
