ANNA MURIEL MEIGHEN (nee McLEOD) Anna Muriel Meighen (nee McLeod) passed away at her residence, Fairview Home, on Monday, February 16, 2004, with family by her side. Muriel was born November 26, 1912 at Winnipeg, MB. She and Frank were married in Winnipeg in 1939 and moved to Brandon. Muriel received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba. After a brief career in advertising for Eatons, Muriel was a homemaker with a keen interest in sewing, cooking and always loved caring for her family. She was also involved with the Kinette Club and Womens Auxiliary at the Brandon General Hospital. Mom played bridge, golf and loved to dance. She and dad enjoyed winter holidays in Scottsdale, AZ. Muriel is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Ed Scovill of Calgary, AB; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Joan of Brandon; and son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Scot Scovill, Julie (Matt Friederichs), Tim Meighen, Susan (Shaun Gauthier), Linda Meighen and Darcie Meighen; great-grandchildren, Cole and Lander Friederichs; and sister Helen Kennedy of Winnipeg. Muriel was predeceased by her husband Frank O. Meighen; sister Isabelle Horton; and grandson David Scovill. A memorial service will be at the Brockie Donovan Chapel in early April. Donations in memory of Muriel may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3 or to a charity of choice.
