Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPEGGY GWENDOLINE SCHROEDER 1920 - 2004 To Our Mom, Our Grandma, Our friend...we will miss you. It has been a gift to be part of your life. You have been an example of strength, and grace during lifes hardships. On February 16, Peggy Gwendoline Schroeder (nee Caple) passed away at Grace General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Vincent (Vic) in 1979 after 32 years of a happy marriage. She leaves to cherish her daughter Susan (Jim) Curran; son Bruce Schroeder; daughters, Wendy (Gary) Spillett, Brenda (Bryan) Thom; "special" son Blair Schroeder, all of Winnipeg; and grandchildren, Stacey Thom, Krista Fenwick, Alan Curran, Kyle Thom and Lesley Curran. Peggy was born to Alfred and Ethel Caple in London, England and immigrated to Canada to be married in 1947. She and Vic settled in Charleswood and worked hard to provide for their family. Peggy worked for over 25 years as bookkeeper at Cantin Drugs in Charleswood. She enjoyed doing a lot of volunteer work, attending bingo, playing Scrabble and providing a home for her family. She had a gift of listening, not only to her family, but all who came in contact with her. In her later years, especially, Peggy liked to write and provided many articles to the Charleswood Senior Care Centre. She regaled her grandchildren with good stories and wrote faithfully to many lifelong friends. She had unconditional love for all her children with such diverse personalities. Heartfelt thanks are due to her dear friends Elsie Crowther and Rose Reed, and her lifelong friends Toni Figgins from England and Anne Melvin from Edmonton. Thanks also to the staff at Grace Hospital for their care and compassion, especially Margaret and Manny. "Thou hast turned my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggys memory to the Salvation Army Grace Hospital, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7 or the Manitoba Special Olympics, 200 Main St., Winnipeg, R3C 4M2.
