DOROTHY SCHULTE 1925 - 2004 It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Schulte announce her passing on February 17, 2004 at the age of 78 years. Dorothy was predeceased by her husbands, Jim Blair (1979), Jim Oakes (1990), and Andrew Schulte (2002) her parents, Orvan Hawkins (1974), Mary Hawkins (1977) and her brother Jack Hawkins (1967). She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Judy (Barry) Baldwin of Warren, MB and Diane (Harold) Hogg of Saskatoon, SK; and cherished by her grandchildren, Ryan (Erin Schneider) Baldwin, Rick (Trisha) Baldwin and boys Eric and Darrin, Curtis (Stephanie) Baldwin, Bryce (Monica Cassils) Baldwin, Travis (Sandy) Hogg and girls, Paige, Hailey and Brooklyn, and Sherri (Mike) Stewart. Also mourning her loss are eight sisters, Laura Krebs, Evelyne Simonson, Doreen Johnson, Eleanor (Doug) Vanderweyde, Mabel Garn, Joyce Davis, Viola (Fred) Wilhelm and Mary Woods; a sister-in-law Agnes Hawkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. In later years, her marriages took her to Clandeboye, MB and Englefeld, SK and more children were welcomed into Dorothys family: Bill (Linda) Oakes, Heather (Todd) Baraniuk, Diane (Howard) Heffernan, Casper (Brenda) Schulte, Barry (Joanne) Schulte, and Cathy Schulte; along with 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was raised in the communities of Fannystelle and Bergen, enjoying life on the farm with her many siblings. In 1947 she married Jim Blair and moved to the Rosser community where they farmed and raised their family. In 1977 they retired, built a home in the town of Rosser and began the tradition of spending winters in Weslaco, TX, which Dorothy continued for the next 20 years. She enjoyed baking, gardening, curling, clogging, painting, fishing, wood carving, never hesitating to tackle new ventures. Her love of fun and her compassionate nature won her many friends throughout her life. Dorothys grandchildren were her great pride and joy as she took them on many adventures and videotaped their many antics. To each one she became a very special person. In the last several years Dorothy met with numerous health-related challenges, facing each one with determination and courage. As per moms wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dorothys life will be held on Friday, February 20 at 2:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall. Rev. Bonita Garrett will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Stonewall and District Health Centre, 589 3rd Ave. S., Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
