ALBERT HENRY CAMPBELL May 4, 1921 - February 17, 2004 Albert was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the West End where he received his education. His parents were Frances and Harry Campbell. He enlisted in the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry in 1940 and served overseas in England and Europe. He received an honourable discharge on his return home in 1945. In 1946 he re-enlisted, this time in the R.C.A.F. and was stationed at various air bases. While he was stationed in Gimli, he met Ninna Bjarnason and they were married in 1951. His five year tour of duty was completed that fall and he was honourably discharged at that time. Albert obtained employment at the Post Office in Winnipeg, later transferring to Edmonton where he and the family lived for 33 years. Al and Ninna returned to Winnipeg in 1998 to be closer to their grandchildren. Al is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Ninna; son Richard Neil; daughter Margaret; five grandchildren, Brooke, Naomii, Ben, Iona and James and their father Mark Singer. He is also survived by his brother Robert. His in-laws include Hulda and Tom Yelic, (Shauna, Mark (Holly), Niels and Gwen Bjarnason (Brent, Inga (Dennis) Vigfusson, Doreen Campbell (Bruce (Carol), Donald (Suesan), Laurel (Don Franks), Carole Campbell, Constance (Brian Willis), Patricia; niece Brenda Campbell, and special friend Claude, and many great nieces and nephews. Al will be sorely missed by his family, especially the grandchildren who called him Big Pa - he had a big heart and loved them dearly. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
