Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIDA EMBLETON Peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2004 Ida Meratta Embleton, aged 86 years of Winnipeg passed away at Concordia Hospital. Ida was born August 8, 1917 in Gladeside, NB to Emmans and Hester Graves. In 1944, Ida married Allan Embleton and moved to her husbands home in Deloraine, MB. In 1956 Ida and Allan moved to Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Allan in February, 1989. Ida was an outgoing, kind and cheerful person with a wonderful sense of humour and easy going personality. She loved knitting and crocheting and over the years family and friends received beautiful sweaters and afghans lovingly made by Ida. Many more were donated to charity. She enjoyed cards and cribbage and bingo, even though she "never won anything". In 1958 Ida was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Over the next 45 years, despite this debilitating disease she displayed an indomitable spirit and inner strength that was an inspiration to all who knew her. For the past 14 years Ida resided at Lions Place. She really enjoyed living there and was a full participant in the many activities and events. The family would like to say "thank you" to the Lions Place staff for their support and care of Ida over the years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion during Idas final stay. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Deloraine United Church, Deloraine, MB with Pastor Susan Everton officiating. Interment will follow in the Deloraine Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Marly, Klint, Kerrie and Brad Abel and David Embleton and Scott McConnell. Ida leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many happy memories her sisters-in-law, Joyce Zetterstrom, Elizabeth Robins, Evelyn Graves and Marjorie Graves; brother-in-law James Hawk, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ida will also be lovingly remembered by the Abel family and Ilene DesLaurier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 4th floor, 141 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0R3. Smith Funeral Home, Deloraine in care of arrangements.
