ANNA KRYWYJ (nee KOCUR) 1917 - 2004 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Krywyj on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at the age of 86 into the hands of God. Anna was predeceased by her husband Jacob in September, 1989; mother Catharina; father Wasyl; twin sister Maria; brothers, Maxim and Olekca. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Olga, Myron, Luba (William) Krosney; grandchildren, Derek, Joseph, Christine, Alexandra, Sasha and Evan. She is also survived by her brother Philip; and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in the Ukraine. Mom was born in Ustriky Horisni, Ukraine, where she lived on the farm sharing her love for animals, wildlife and nature. During the war, she lived and worked on farms in Germany and Belgium, where she met and married dad. Together, they moved to Canada in 1953, immigrating straight to Winnipeg. They remained Winnipeg residents and were active in the church, keeping spirituality as a focus for guiding their lives. Mom was passionate about her children and grandchildren. She filled our homes with love and warmth and was always there for each of us. She had a gentle spirit of kindness and a heart of gold. Moms creative disposition kept her busy all the time. The smells of her wonderful cooking and baking always greeted all who came to her home, and she never let anyone sit with an empty stomach or plate. Her perogies and donuts were legendary. When not working in the kitchen, she could be found sewing, embroidering and working in the garden with dad. Together they planted tomatoes and beautiful geraniums that she nurtured with the same love she bestowed upon her family. Mom was always unselfish and put others before herself. She had a great sense of humour and a zest for life. A highly entertaining person, she loved to tell stories and talk for hours about her life experiences. Her strength, passion for life and unconditional love were an inspiration to us all. Her passing into the hands of God removes her from our physical presence, but not from our hearts or our minds. We will miss her more than we can ever say. From the Grandchildren, a note to Baba: We will love you forever, and we will miss you. We look forward to seeing you again some day in heaven. The family wishes to thank the staff of Riverview Hospital, Dr. Leah MacDonald, Dr. Babick, and the Palliative Care Sub-program Nursing Team of Sharon Labine and Doris Orchyk. Prayers will be held on Sunday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 23 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 820 Burrows Ave. with Rev. Fr. J.S. Buciora officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care Hospice or charity of your choice. VICHNAYA PAMYAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
