AUDREY MARGARET McGAVIN (nee SMITH) The family notes with sadness the peaceful passing on February 18, 2004 of Audrey McGavin at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, ON in her 76th year. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Dr. Kenneth R. McGavin. She leaves a legacy of love and compassion to her children, Eileen (Paul) McIntyre, Oakville; H Gail Schwier, Kingston; Brenda (Neil) Brennan, Cambridge; Sharon McGavin (Peter McIvor), Vancouver; Don McGavin (Christianne Roy), Oakville. Caring grandmother to Gavin, Adam, Alastair, Andrew, Graham, Leslie, Jordan, Nicholas and Gabriel. Loving sister to Kenneth (Chris) Smith, Corunna, and Ian Smith, St. Catharines. Audrey was born in Winnipeg and graduated as a R.N. from Winnipeg General Hospital in 1950. She dedicated her life to her family and volunteering. A recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 2002, she gave guidance, inspiration and strength to others during 45 years with the Canadian Cancer Society. She also volunteered for the NGH Auxiliary, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association and other charities. A celebration of Audreys life will be held at St. Pauls Presbyterian Church, Simcoe on Sunday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Norfolk General Hospital Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society (Ontario Division - research) or St. Pauls Presbyterian Church. "Count your age by your friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears." Go in peace, Mom.
