LARRY FRANCIS McNEIL December 9, 1944 - February 17, 2004 After a brief illness in the peaceful setting of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, Larry passed away on February 17, 2004. Larry was predeceased by his mother June Stasiuk (2003) and father Louis Stasiuk (1985). Larry was employed by Sullivan Strong Scott (Strongco) for 26 years. With greatest pride he held the position of Shop Steward for the U.S.W.A. Union at Strongco, representing his fellow workers, negotiating on their behalf the issues concerning fair labour practices, and safety and health regulations. Larry retired to the cottage at McConnell Lake in 2001, continuing to share time in the summer with in-laws Anne and Jack Mitchell, Lynn and Jackie Reykdal, Jay and Margie Mitchell, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. In keeping with his concern for others, Larry redirected his efforts into helping the homeless animals in the community by volunteering with the O.S.P.C.A. in Kenora. In the last days of Larrys illness, although time was brief, Larry was comforted by his sister Diane and brother-in-law Morris Smith, "cousin" Carolyn Comstock and his precious dog Minee. In the final moments of Larrys life, he was embraced by his loving wife Marilyn, daughter Jodi McNeil, son-in-law and granddaughter, Kerry and Korlysse Buhay and close friends Ray and Donna Collum. With deepest thanks we acknowledge the compassion of the L.O.T.W. nurses and staff, Dr. Fred Fjeldsted and Salvation Army Officers Val and Gloria Redner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kenora Branch O.S.P.C.A., Box 1148, Keewatin, ON P0X 1C0. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
