MAVIS BANNISH (nee McDONALD) December 11, 1931- February 20, 2004 It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Mavis Bannish, after a courageous battle with cancer, on February 20, 2004 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital, with family and friends at her side. Mavis was born December 11, 1931 at Loon Straights, MB to Rose and Stanley McDonald. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 54 years James; sons, Greg (Ginette), Darrell (Barb), Wayne (Linda) her pride and joy, her grandsons, Michael (Amy), Danny (Nicole) her little dog Muffy; brothers, Lloyd (Margaret) and Merv (Verna) sisters, Audrey, Verna (Frank), and Belle (Art) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Bill and Harold; and sister Irene. Some of the places Mavis was employed at was Coca Cola, Manitoba Fisheries, and the Mental Health Hospital. After retirement she enjoyed her card games, bingo, going to the casino, or firing up her old van and driving to wherever on some camping trip. Mavis enjoyed having company who always sampled some of her great baking. Those who knew her can treasure the memories of her keen wit and great sense of humour and love of laughter. At Mavis request there will be no formal service, cremation has taken place and interment of ashes will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. A special thanks to Corrine and Darlene for being there when we couldnt. Also thanks to the doctors and nurses for her care. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
