MARGRET JONINA BJARNASON (nee THORVARDSON) Our dear mother, amma and great amma passed away peacefully Sunday, February 15, 2004 at Betel Care home in Gimli, MB. Mom was born October 6, 1908, in Geyser, MB. She was the youngest of six children. Mom moved to Winnipeg at an early age and worked at Moores Restaurant and Eatons. She married Dad in 1931 in Winnipeg and they were fortunate to celebrate 72 years of marriage. She was blessed with two children, Lorraine and Wallace. Mom devoted her life to her family. Her happiest times were dinners together and fun times at the farm in Riverton. She always had the coffee pot on and the house smelling of fresh cinnamon buns and Icelandic brown bread. Mom loved playing cards, especially bridge with many wonderful friends. She is survived by her son Wallace (Joan), grandchildren Brant (Cathy), Diane (Tom) son-in-law Charles Lindsay (Norma) of Toronto, grandchildren Gail (Bohdan), Carol (Dennis), Scott (Carol Ann), Lori (Peter) as well as 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Wallace; daughter Lorraine; her parents and five siblings. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Betel Home in Gimli for all the love and support given to Mom over the last couple of years.
