Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJENNY HELEN KARVELAS (nee ANDRUSHKO) September 13, 1939- February 17, 2004 Jenny passed away peacefully at the age of 64, while on holidays in Athens, Greece, with her beloved husband, Demetrios, by her side. She will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her husband of 39 years, Demetrios ("Jimmy") children, John (Lisa Fournier), Nicholas (Debra Arrowood) grandsons, Demetrios, Chris and Gregory; siblings, Peter (Sally Tatarchuk), Paula and Pat (Michael Orpen) brother-in-law Steve Skakun; mother-in-law Helen (Boosalis) Karvelas and sister-in-law Angeliki Mavromatopoulou, both of Athens, Greece; and many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as friends and co-workers. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Katherine (Perchaluk) Andrushko; sisters, Annie, Elsie Skakun and Mary Vereb; father-in-law Ioannis Karvelas and brothers-in-law, Frank Vereb and Vasilios Mavromatopoulos. Jenny was born in Vita, MB, met her dear "Jimmy" while they both worked at Standard Aero in Winnipeg and they married in 1964. They opened the Red Boot Drive-Inn restaurant and she spent every evening it was open, there, by his side. She enjoyed her day job in the Home Care office at the Grace Hospital. Jenny was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage and openly adopted Jims Greek culture. Jenny was devoted to family and to God. Her many selfless acts were appreciated. She was kindhearted and made all visitors welcome in her home. She enjoyed her country music, Danielle Steele novels, shopping and her regular stops at Tim Hortons with Nicholas by her side. Mostly, though, her focus was on her family and her never-ending concern for their well-being, especially her three precious grandsons who gave her such joy. They meant the world to her. Her loss was so unexpected and sudden that she leaves a tremendous gap in our lives that we cannot fill. We are saddened not to have been able to say one last goodbye or have one last laugh. We lost you too soon, but we pray you have found peace in Our Lords embrace. We will miss you. Prayers will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave. Pallbearers will be Spiro Balageorge, Nick Boosalis, Dr. Chris Christodoulou, Bryan Frick, Michael Orpen and Sean Orpen.
