Emmanuel and his wife Lauren started their life together farming near Deleau, MB. Living in the country, he developed an appreciation for nature. He enjoyed hunting and was an excellent marksman. Emmanuel was employed by the Department of Highways for over 25 years. He was Work Supervisor in St. Pierre from 1965 until his early retirement in 1978. He took pride in his work, was a very conscientious and loyal employee and was awarded a certificate of merit from the Province of Manitoba. Never one to be idle following retirement he was employed by the Knights of Columbus as superintendent of Columbus Courts from 1978 to 1985. There he and Lauren made many close friends. Emmanuel and Lauren spent many happy days travelling across North America in their R.V. They especially enjoyed camping in Stonewall Quarry Park and more recently in Kenora at Lake of the Woods, often accompanied by their grandchildren. Emmanuels greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He was always there to lend a hand when needed. Emmanuel was very handy and capable of fixing almost anything and was known as "Mr. Fix-it" to his family and friends. Emmanuel liked riding his scooter around the neighbourhood, an activity both he and his faithful dog Penny looked forward to. This gave Emmanuel an opportunity to stop and chat with the neighbours. The family would like to thank the staff, volunteers and volunteer drivers at Cancer Care Manitoba. They also wish to thank the staff and volunteers at the Grace General Hospital on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
