IRENE GRANTHAM (SKELTON) Irene Grantham (Skelton) born March 12, 1920. Surviving to mourn her loss is her companion, Ellis Crerar, and her family, son Don (Barbara) of Duncan, BC; daughter Faye of Carman; son Tom (Denise) of Lillooet, BC; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Irenes siblings, sister Ruby Ormiston (Jim) of Naramada, BC; Alex Skelton of Duncan; Fred Skelton of Roseisle, and Terry (Thelma) of Parksville, BC. Irene also has many other relatives and friends she held very dear and who will miss her. Irene was predeceased by her husband Tom Grantham, her parents, Floyd and Bella Skelton; her brother "Spud"; her nephew Wally Skelton and niece Wendy Skelton. Mom was born in Winnipeg and raised in Carman where she met and married Tom Grantham. They moved to Prince Rupert and raised their three children, Don, Faye, and Tom. Mom moved to Winnipeg on her own in the late 70s where she worked at Hertig Furs and Academy Fashions as a Manageress. She moved back to Carman in the early 80s with her companion, Ellis Crerar. Mom loved fishing at Stephenfield Lake and enjoyed having her many friends in for coffee. All who knew her, knew that both coffee pots were always on. Mom moved in to the Boyne Lodge reluctantly and within minutes fell in love with her wonderful, caring caregivers. She was heard to tell her other friends they too should move in there. Mom was tiny but she fought cancer and pain better than the big guys and you never heard her complain. She passed away with loving family and friends by her side. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 25, at Doyles Funeral Chapel in Carman at 11:00 a.m., with lunch to follow at the Legion Auxiliary Hall. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Boyne Lodge, Box 1644, Carman, MB R0G 0J0. Doyles Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
