VICTOR TRAVERSE (COOMBER) June 30, 1941 - February 20, 2004 Peacefully on February 20, 2004, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB., Victor Traverse (Coomber), aged 62, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Victor was from the Lake St. Martin First Nation, where he was born and raised. Victor was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law and friend. He worked for I.R.T.C. as a security guard for 5 years, also fire fighting, night security and other jobs. Victor enjoyed being outdoors and doing many things. He liked to hunt, trap and fish. The most favourite things that he liked to do was go to church, talk on the phone with his friends and his children and grandchildren, also teasing his grandchildren, whom he gave nick names. Victor leaves to mourn his wife Melva Traverse, whom he was married to for almost 39 years; his children, Wanda (Marvin), Lienus (Erica), Angela, Tony, Teresa (David), Andrea (Stacy) and Victor Jr.; parents, John and Irene Traverse; brothers, John and Roderrick; sisters, Sarah and Ruth; grandchildren whom he cherished very much, Chris, Reeva, Marvin Jr., Tyler, Evan, Madison, Montana, Martina, Santanis, David Jr. and Stacy Jr.; and his daughter-in-law Sharon. Victor was predeceased by his son Wilfred on August 21, 1981; his brother Rupert on April 5, 1985; grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law; his mother-in-law Florence Anderson on February 16, 1988; and his father-in-law Henry George Anderson on January 4, 2003. Wake services will be held on Monday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. All services will be held at the Lake St. Martin Pentecostal Church. Pastor Gerald Anderson, Asst. Pastor Richard Anderson and Pastor Raymond McLean will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake St. Martin Cemetery.
