Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCARL ANDREW PETTERSON May 18, 1932 - February 23, 2004 Peacefully, at the Beausejour Hospital with his devoted wife by his side, Carl went to meet his Lord and Saviour. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Freda, of 47 years; their children, Carolyn (Philip) Wurch, Bruce (Yvonne) and Brian (Marcia) and their grandchildren, Alisha and Karleen Wurch; Nicholas, Kristjana and Andrew Carl Petterson. He is also survived by his sisters, Eileen Lauder, Shirley (Don) Miller and Bev Bula; his uncle Eric Petterson; also numerous nieces and nephews.Their son Perry and brother-in-law, Ted Bula predeceased him. Carl was born in Selkirk, MB and spent most of his young life in Great Falls where his career with Manitoba Hydro began. His 36 years with hydro took him to many stations over Manitoba ending in Brandon where he retired in 1987. Carl lived his life to the fullest. He was a kind and gentle, caring man who enriched the lives of all he met. His humourous spirit and positive attitude drew both young and old to him. In his youth, he enjoyed fastball, curling and camping with his family. His retirement years were spent doing what he loved best, barbecuing with his family, romping with his grandkids, travelling and golfing. He even spent his spare time working with his son-in-law and the bees. Dads great love for his Lord was evident throughout his faithful service in church and community. IM FREE Dont grieve for me, for now Im free, Im following the path God laid out for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play, Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy, A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not bothered with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow, My lifes been full, I savoured much, Food, friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Dont lengthen it now with undue grief, Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me FREE. The Petterson family wishes to especially thank Dr. Van Rensburg, the nursing staff of the Beausejour Hospital, and the paramedics for the kind and compassionate care during Dads lengthy illness. Viewing will take place on Friday, February 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Beausejour, MB.
