NICK JOHN CHOBOTER 1924 - 2004 Peacefully on February 22, 2004 at the Holy Family Nursing Home, Nick John Choboter, aged 79, of Middlebro, beloved husband of Alice, passed away surrounded by his family. Nick will be forever in the hearts of his loving wife of 55 years Alice (Perchaluk) his children, Edwin (Janet), Nancy (John) and Jeffrey (Linda) grandchildren, Kevin, Adam, Tori and Riley; his brothers, Erwin (Sylvia) and Bobby; his sisters, Frances Plouffe, Doris Kostynyk, Kathleen Nastiuk (Bill), Shirley Louwers. Nick was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Choboter; brothers, George (Bernice), Peter (Rose) and Tommy. Nick was born and raised at the family farm in Sundown where he met and married Alice in 1948. Shortly after they moved to Middlebro, raised their family and built a business. Nick was a successful entrepreneur and highly respected in the logging industry employing several people in custom sawing and planing. He was a pioneer in the design and fabrication of sawmills and related equipment. Nick was a community leader helping to build the Hall, and tirelessly volunteered in any way he could. Nick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and curling. He loved to be with family and friends and enjoyed travelling. Even after his stroke in 1974, Nick forged on regaining most of his abilities and was employed by the Federal Government until his health deteriorated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28 at the Middlebro Community Hall at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Deacon Leon Twerdun officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin, Adam and Erwin Choboter, John Kjos, Bill Nastiuk and Duane Comstock. Our family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation for the loving care provided to Nick by the staff at the Holy Family Nursing Home in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nicks memory may be made to the Holy Family Nursing Home or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Vita Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
