JEAN CHARLES (CHARLIE) DELORME It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Jean Charles (Charlie) Delorme in Harlingen, Texas on February 22, 2004 at the age of 74 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Flora (George) Burry of Edmonton, AB, his longtime friend Simon Mailloux of Woodridge, MB, good friend Grace Fontaine of Winnipeg, MB and his loyal friend Lady. He is also survived by numerous family members and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Leopold (1942), Samuel (1976), Gabriel (1979) and nephew Bob (2000). He was also predeceased by his companion Gladys Rushfeldt in 2000. Charlie was born, raised and educated in St. Adolphe. He left home as a young man to work in the bush in North Western Ontario. Later he worked as a truck driver for Rogers Fruit. He then went on the DEW Line three consecutive times where he started his career as an ironworker. Over the years he honed his craft in machinery moving, crane operations and heavy hauling. In 1977 he and three close friends gave birth to what is now known as Able Movers Ltd. Charlie was well known throughout the construction industry. His integrity, honesty and sense of fair play was legendary. For many of us who have had the privilege of having him in our lives, we will miss his ready smile, sense of humour and quick wit. He will be greatly missed.
