OLIVIA ADALBJORG GARBUTT (ANDERSON) Her family is sad to announce the passing of Olivia Garbutt (Anderson) on February 25, 2004 at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Olivia (Ollie) was 93 years old. She was predeceased by her husband George Frederick (Tic) Garbutt in 1967. Her brothers, Harold and Skafti as well as her sister Mary Gibson also predeceased her. Surviving is her best friend and sister Anne Johnson and her husband James. Olivias family includes her daughter Joan Mair (Forbes) and husband Ken; son Barry and wife Eleanor; and grandchildren, Douglas Forbes (Laureen) and Jodi Shaw (Jay). Olivia is Langamma to Gillian and Erica Forbes and Raegen and Graeme Shaw. There were other very special relatives in Olivias life including her brother-in-law Lloyd Garbutt and nephew Ken Johnson. The family, on Olivias behalf, would like to thank Lucia Haddock and numerous people from Home Care. Together they made it possible for Olivia to live at home until very recently. The family would also like to thank the many people at St. Boniface General Hospital that tried so hard to make the most of her last days. Olivia was a proud Icelandic Canadian. Her "voyage" with her sister Mary to Iceland was a highlight. Olivia enjoyed and excelled as a five pin bowler. She played or enjoyed many other sports including hockey, golf and baseball. For many years, even decades, she enjoyed her membership in the Order of the Royal Purple. We remember the family farm near Husavik, Gibbys corner and the many family functions at Sandy Hook. We remember her determination, her modesty, her subtle wit, her interest in daily affairs, her concern for others and her love. At the end of her life she was still doing daily Jumbles, watching curling and golf, cutting out recipes, feeding the birds and so much more. We miss her. "You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can remember her and only that shes gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on" There will be a reception in celebration of her life on Saturday, February 28 between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street). Please support the charity of your choice in her name. "A Lark Ascending" NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
