Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK R. (PADDY) HUTTON January 19, 1918 - February 25, 2004 It is with deeply saddened hearts the family announces the passing of Frank (Paddy) Hutton, at Grace Hospital of complications following a fall. Paddy was born and educated in McCreary, MB; his grandfather was one of the first five settlers in McCreary. He was one of ten children born to Arthur and Agnes Hutton. Paddy joined the army in 1939 and served proudly and loyally in the Fort Garry Horse Regiment from 1939 to 1945. As a tank commander in this historic regiment he landed on D-Day in an amphibian tank (D-D tank) at Juno Beach. He was wounded the third day after the landing with severe burns. He was sent to a hospital in the north of England for radical but proven treatment. He returned to his unit in November 1944 where he served until returning to Canada in October 1945. Paddy and Isabel were married in 1945 and have spent over 58 years together. They were blessed with three children, Brian, Dennis and Avril. Paddy was devoted to Isabel and his family. Both parents were proud of their childrens individual achievements. Paddy shared his love, wise counsel, integrity, loyalty and commitment with his family. It is a testament to Paddy and five other veterans from both wars that in 1946 were instrumental in laying the foundation for the Fort Garry Horse Regimental Association. Paddy was a master Dry Cleaner working for Henrys and Quintons. He retired in 1983. Paddy and Isabel have travelled extensively throughout Great Britain, Ireland and Europe. Several times they returned to walk the Normandy beaches of the D-Day landing. He is survived by his devoted wife Isabel; son Dennis (Pat) Edmonton; daughter Avril, Winnipeg; and daughter in law Joan, Sandy Hook. Sadly Paddy was predeceased by Brian in 1995. The family was deeply saddened by this loss. There are eight grandchildren, who are a source of great pride to Paddy and Isabel. Kirk, Christopher (Sheila), Winnipeg; Brian Jr.; Killarney, (Lisa) Nicole, Alexandria (fiance Les) and Graham all of Winnipeg. Scott and Derek of Edmonton. He is also survived by his brother George (Phyllis) of B.C., numerous nephews and nieces, great-nephews and nieces. Many friends in Great Britain, Europe, U.S.A. and Canada. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the third floor nurses, aids, nursing managers, desk staff and technicians of the Grace Hospital who worked continuously with caring, compassion and expertise to help make Paddys time there as comfortable as possible.
