LINDA MARIE PEEBLES (nee STARODUB) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Linda Peebles, on Monday, February 23, 2004. Among the numerous people wishing she was still here are her loving husband, Reid; her parents Walter and Adeline; brothers, Walter (Linda), Tim (Eileen), Mike (Kelli) and sisters, Susan (Tom) and Lori (John) brothers-in-law, Garfield (Sue) and Larry and sister-in-law Barb. Missing their "Aunty Linda" are her nieces and nephews, Megan, Douglas, Michael, Sam, Sarah, Jeff, Evan, Mitchell, Kim and Jamie (Crystal). Linda was predeceased by her grandparents; her mother-in-law Lillian; father-in-law Ernest; brother-in-law Terry and sister-in-law Geri. Linda will also be missed by her numerous close friends and colleagues. Linda was born and raised in East Selkirk, attending Happy Thought School from Grades one to eight and the Selkirk Collegiate Institute for her high school education. She worked as a secretary for the Lord Selkirk School Division in Selkirk for 33 years. She was loved and respected by her co-workers and students alike. She especially enjoyed her time working in the Student Services area where she played many roles for "her kids" - advisor, consultant and "mother". Linda had the great gift of being able to empathize with others and her sense of humour is legend. When there was laughter to be heard in a room, Linda was usually at the centre of it. Family and friends will miss Lindas uncanny ability to find the "perfect card" for every occasion, usually the funnier the better. She was a great baseball fan, enjoying the Blue Jays on TV and attending the Winnipeg Goldeyes games. Linda had an appreciation for reading and could often be found with a good book in her hands, finding new words for the next family Scrabble game. She especially enjoyed travelling with Reid to shop in new places or to visit family. Linda acquired a love for the mountains and exploring new places in search of ever-elusive wildlife. Linda will always be remembered for her selflessness and her generous nature. Linda, by her example, encouraged others to live life to its fullest. Like Linda, never be too shy to sing or laugh out loud. A memorial service in her honour will take place Friday, February 27 at 10:30 a.m., St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in East Selkirk, MB with Fr. Jerry Talarski officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
