MARY CISZEWSKI (nee ZAWATSKI) Peacefully, with her family at her side, Mary Ciszewski, passed away at the Betel Home in Gimli, on Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at the age of 95 Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Mary Ann Maxted (Gary) her sons, Donald Shaw (Joan), Gordon Shaw (Sherrie) and Peter Shaw (Elsie) grandchildren, Ross, Glen, Neil, Susan, Leslie, Dennis, Patricia, Karen, David and Grant; 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom dearly loved their grandma and great-grandma and were dearly loved by her. Mary was predeceased by her parents; her brother John; her sisters, Rose Chwartacki and Ann Bobrowich; and by her infant son, Peters twin brother, Frankie. Mum was born in Winnipeg Beach on June 18, 1908, according to the government of the day, but according to Mum, nearer May 24, during "potato planting time". We celebrated many beautiful birthdays with Mum over her 95 years. Mum raised her family, worked in the food services establishments at the Beach, loved her gardening, travels and her many lifelong friends that she made over the years. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at the Gimli Betel Home for their loving kindness and devotion in caring for our beloved mother. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 1 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Winnipeg Beach with Fr. Art Seaman officiating. Viewing for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Holy Rosary Cemetery, Winnipeg Beach. Her six grandsons will be her pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Betel Home in Gimli or to a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
