My Aunt Nellie (Helen) and her family lived with our family (Margaret Laing nee Harrison) in Winnipeg when they first emigrated to Canada. I am trying to piece together a family tree of the Harrisons - starting with Helen and Margaret's generation (there were 11 children, ultimately scattered to England, Canada, India, South Africa). I wish I had paid more attention to my mother's family stories when she lived with us. Any clues from others attempting something similar would be appreciated. - Posted by: Richard Laing (Nephew (son of her sister Margaret)) on: Jan 29, 2022

While in Toronto visiting my daughter for Christmas in 2018, my grandson was doing a family tree school project on the Harrison family. We came across the obituary for Helen Cochrane (nee Harrison). My name is Ian Harrison, son of John Harrison, Helen's brother. My father passed away in 1962 and I remember Helen and Margaret coming over to Scotland for the funeral. - Posted by: Ian Harrison (Nephew) on: Jan 27, 2019

I did not know Aunt Helen that well, as I was only about 5-6 years old when they left Coatbridge. I do remember playing with their son Billy, on my bike in Cornhill Ave. I have only found out today, that Uncle John & Aunt Helen have passed away. My sincere condolences. I am at the moment, trying to fit together our family history, and would be most grateful if this could be passed on to the immediate family. - Posted by: James Cochrane [ son of William Donald Cochrane Gartsherrie } (Nephew) on: May 11, 2015
