Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIDA MASON The family of Vida Mason, nee Weldon, is saddened to announce her death on February 24, 2004, at Wawanesa Personal Care Home after a lengthy illness. Vida was born December 1, 1909, in Calowrie, MB, and grew up there. After finishing her schooling, she spent one and one-half years in California and then returned to Canada and worked as a nurses aide in The Pas and then in Flin Flon where she met and married James (Jimmy) Mason in 1937. When Jim contracted tuberculosis in 1939 they moved to Ninette, MB, so he could receive treatment, and Vida took a job in the kitchen. When Jim was cured, they remained in Ninette, and Jim also joined the work force at "The San." They became part of "The San Family." They also were active in Ninette community life. Vida was a longtime, faithful member of the Anglican Church in Ninette and the Anglican Church Women. She was also an active participant in both the local Agricultural Society and in the 4H Clubs. Vida was predeceased by her parents; two sisters and three brothers; as well as her husband Jim in 1969; and her daughter-in-law Peggy in 1997. She is survived by her daughter Velma (Don) McAdam of The Pas, MB, and grandson Tim McAdam; and her son Bob (Valdyn) Mason of Ninette, and grandson Scott Mason. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the St. Michaels All Angels Anglican Church in Ninette on Wednesday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Hildebrandt officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Ninette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Vidas memory be made to The Ninette Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, Box 75, Ninette, MB R0K 1R0, or a charity of your choice.
