She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Walter Chykalsky (Jeanne) of Peace River, AB, Mary Gauthier of Winnipeg and Steffie Zirk (Howard) of Selkirk, MB; grandchildren, Kimberley (Damon), Lauren, Tara, Michael, Danielle, Robert; and great-granddaughter Emma. Anna was predeceased by her husband Steve and her three sisters from the Ukraine. Anna was born on May 7, 1923 in the Ukraine. She immigrated to Brantford, ON, in 1951, joining her husband Steve. Later, she settled in East Selkirk, where she worked on the family farm and outside of the home. She resided there until December 2003. She enjoyed gardening, her yard, family gatherings, and going on summer holidays with her family. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, especially her great-granddaughter Emma. She will sadly be missed by all her family and friends. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, March 3 at 8:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Home on 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Michael Gauthier and Robert Zirk; granddaughters, Lauren Chykalsky and Tara Chykalsky; son-in-law Pierre Gauthier; and family friend Doug Smederovac. The family wishes to thank Dr. Luitingh, the staff of both the Selkirk General Hospital and the Red River Personal Care Home, and all of her friends who visited her while in the hospital and called with well-wishes and support.
