NELLIE FERENS Peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2004, surrounded by her family and Msgr. Louis McCloskey, Nellie Ferens passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 82. Nellie was a strong willed and independent woman. Along with her husband Harry they managed the Perths Drycleaning Plant at 72 Donald St. for many years and after Harrys passing Nellie began a second career with the Winnipeg Regional Housing Authority as a homecare worker until the age of 72. Mother was a very kind, giving and generous person to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1981, son Dennis in 1998, brother Stanley Shore in 2004 and sister Lillian. Nellie will be lovingly remembered by her son Greg and wife Rita; daughter-in-law Lisa; sisters, Joyce Konfara and Frances Dymkowski both of Michigan and Marian Dumity of California; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Shore of Michigan, Hazel Ferens, Mary (Walter) Melnyk and Elsie Ferens. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 3, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresas Roman Catholic Church, 3597 Main St. with Msgr. Louis McCloskey officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. John Moncek and the staff on the 4th floor, U2, Seven Oaks Hospital for all their kindness, compassion and caring they showed our mother during her stay.
