OLIVE PRESTON "Mum," "Grammy," and friend to many, Olive Preston passed away Saturday, February 28, 2004 after a brief illness. Olive was born March 13, 1921 in Bethany, MB and was predeceased by her husband Ross Preston in 1986. Sons, Brian of Winnipeg, Gary of Victoria BC, Wayne of Collierville, TN, and their respective families grieve her loss and will forever cherish her memory. Olive worked for many years as a teacher in rural Manitoba and later as a substitute teacher in Winnipeg. She at one time operated a private Kindergarten and last worked as a seasonal employee at Revenue Canada. In her retirement years Olive enjoyed travelling and visited much of the world including Europe, Israel, South America, The Caribbean, and many other destinations. Mum enjoyed a very active retirement and her many friends made through her bowling leagues, dance groups, and activities at the West End Seniors Centre. Olive was especially fond of playing cards and other games with friends and family. She devoured books and chocolate with equal enthusiasm. Her zest for life was an inspiration for both her family and friends. Services in memory of the life of Olive Preston will be held on Wednesday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway in Winnipeg.
