HENIA (MAKOWKA) ENGEL March 7, 1924 - February 27, 2004 It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother. She passed away quietly with her family at her side. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Leonard and Cyndy Makowka, Marlene and Marc Solomon and Francine and Shawn Yaffe; dear sister and sister-in-law of Paul and Molly Finewax; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Henia was born in Poland, survived the Holocaust and made her life in Toronto and then in Winnipeg. Henia was a true example of strength, freedom and perseverance to everyone. She was completely devoted to, and most happy when surrounded by her family. Her love, kindness and zest for life will never be forgotten. The funeral service will be held at Benjamins Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Ave. W. (one light west of Dufferin), on Wednesday, March 3. Please call 416-663-9060 for time of service. Special thanks to Dr. S. Permack, Dr. G. Minuk and Dr. D. Houston for their endless care and compassion for our mother. Sincere appreciation to the staff of 4 North at the Victoria Hospital for their help over the last year.
