GLADYS BALE TAYLOR Gladys Bale Taylor, aged 85, passed away peacefully at Poseidon Nursing Home on Tuesday, March 2, 2004. Gladys was born and lived all her life in Winnipeg. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Taylor. Gladys was an active member of Gordon-King Memorial United Church singing in the choir for many years. After 31 years of service at the Canadian National Railway Gladys retired in 1983. Gladys enjoyed travelling with her husband, actively participated in tennis and golf, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Winnipeg Jets and the Blue Bombers. She and her husband were long time members of the Winnipeg Canoe Club. Gladys belonged to the Monarchist League of Canada and her sewing club for over 60 years. Gladys lovingly cared for her mother for many years and was most happy when surrounded by family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to especially thank the staff on the 5th floor at Poseidon Nursing home for their gentle compassion and loving care of Gladys. Gladys is survived by her three sisters, Grace Hicks, Sidney, BC, Jean Smith, Surrey, BC and Vera Wood, Savannah, GA; as well as several nieces and nephews of whom Gladys was immensely proud. Memorial service will be held at Gordon-King Memorial United Church, 127 Cobourg on Saturday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will follow the reception at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Remembrances in Gladys name may be made to the Poseidon Nursing Home, 70 Poseidon Bay, Winnipeg, R3M 3E5 or Gordon-King Memorial United Church, 127 Cobourg Ave., Winnipeg, R2L 0H4.
