Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDON DUANE On Monday, March 1, 2004 at the Charleswood Care Home, Donald Duane at the age of 90 came to rest. Don was born in Winnipeg on July 27, 1913. At the age of six the family moved from Winnipeg to the farm in Malonton where he grew up and went to school. In 1934 Don worked on the Trans Canada Highway. He then went to work at the Mines as a Diamond Driller and later worked in the Mill refining gold. He joined the services in 1942, while in the service he went to Sicily, Italy and then to Holland where the war ended. In 1945 Don returned to Malonton and was in partnership in operating a mink ranch with brothers-in-law, John and Jim Darowany for several years. However, Don broadened his talents by moving to Windsor to become a mason contractor. Then he moved to Detroit where he continued to live and work as a bricklayer until his retirement. Upon his retirement he moved back to live in Teulon where he enjoyed outdoor life such as hunting, cutting wood, picking berries and most of all he enjoyed playing crib. Don was predeceased by his wife Olga; his parents; and three brothers, Steve, Ivan and Joe. Don is survived by his sister Olga Braunsteiner of Michigan; son Gordon of Teulon; grandson Daniel (Claudia) of Cole Lake, AB and grandson Scott and his daughter Rachel of Detroit and granddaughter Heather of Detroit. Special thanks to the staff at the Charleswood Care Home for their assistance, support and loving care during his stay. Prayers will be said on Thursday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Interment to follow in St. Stephens Cemetery, Pleasant Home. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon, in care of the arrangements.
