Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN RICHARD MELLWAY JR. (JACK) February 3, 1916 - March 3, 2004 John passed away Wednesday at St. Pauls Hospital Palliative Care Unit. He is survived by loving wife of 63 years Olga (nee Syroishka) his son David from Calgary, AB; his daughter JoAnn Hamilton (Stewart) from Mississauga, ON; his son Chris from Winnipeg, MB; and his six grandchildren, Robert, Kevin, Christiana, Graeme, Kyle, and Sydney. A Memorial Service will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Saturday, March 6 at 1:00 p.m. John was well known for his generosity, uplifting spirit, and enormous sense of humour. His warm, outgoing personality endeared him to everyone who knew him. Jack served his Country from l941-l945 including three years overseas duty. Jack was an active member of the Brampton Golf Club for over 20 years. He retired as General Manager of Filter & Heating Supplies Ltd. (Powrmatic) in 1973 and became a gentleman farmer at Baptiste Lake, near Bancroft, ON. Harvesting maple sugar became a hobby and John was active with both the Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion. After a move to Arbutus Ridge on Vancouver Island, BC in 1990 he was active in the Legion and St. Johns Church, Cobble Hill. In October, 2003, John and Ollie moved to Saskatoon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Prairie View Chapel and Crematorium, Saskatoon 306-242-7884.
