Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS MAY READE (nee BOWLEY) Peacefully and with her two loving daughters by her side, Phyllis Reade passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the age of 82. Phyllis memory will be cherished by her loving husband Thomas; and her daughter Laurie Reade; her daughter Marian (Doug) Young; grandchildren, Scott and Megan; sisters, Helen Tonn and Audrey (Fred) Tufford; as well as many other family members and close friends. Phyllis was born December 10, 1921 in Winnipeg. She attended Lord Roberts School, Kelvin High School and United College. She worked for many years as a cost accountant for Silverwood Dairies and then decided to enter the teaching profession. She taught Business Education at Tec Voc High School for many years and briefly at Elmwood High School. After meeting Thomas on a trip to England, they were married on July 11, 1958 and cherished each other for nearly 45 years. Phyllis loved being with her family and friends. She was an avid gardener, spending many hours working in her large garden. She loved to travel and she especially enjoyed spending time at the cottage at Victoria Beach. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation may be made to Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg, 10-120 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
