Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD DOUGLAS BERRY April 8, 1944 - March 2, 2004 "If you get there before I do, dont give up on me; Ill be there when my chores are through." Peacefully with his wife at his side on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital, Lloyd Douglas Berry breathed his last breath to be with the Lord. Lloyd fought hard against diabetes with the close support of his entire family. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude cannot express the gift of life from Lloyds sister Wendy, which gave him the chance to know his granddaughters. Lloyd was born and raised in the northern town of Flin Flon. He met his wife Lena in Grade 12 at Hapnot High. He worked as a Miner at Snow Lake before working at M.T.S. for 35 years. Lloyd volunteered extensively for the Wildwood Community Club, coached hockey and became a neighbourhood "Dad". He raised his two sons to become successful; Dan (teaches in Korea) and Jody (scientist at Virology Lab in Winnipeg). His pride and joys were his two granddaughters, Jordy (eight) and Erin (five). They gave him his sparkles in his eyes. Lloyd had many interests, hockey, curling, carpentry, wine making, gardening and fishing - at all he excelled. He always had an ear to listen to the problems of others, and was a natural protector. Predeceased by his father Fred. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Lena; sons, Dan and Jody (Tracy) granddaughters, Jordy and Erin. Survived by his mother Irma; sisters, Wendy (Colin Skinner), twin sister Linda (Len Shiers) and brother Fred (Rachel) and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff on B5 at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care towards Lloyd. Thanks so much to the staff especially nurses, Shelley, Jennifer, Kim, Monica, Lesley, Vida, Arthur and Mark. Special thanks to Unit Aides, Louis, Tim, Howard, Pamela (Sugar) and Linda. Also many thanks to doctors, Verelli, Jinaud, Cadieux, Reslerova, Walters, Henry. Also thanks to Lloyds favourite home care orderlies, Ricardo and Elias and also special care nurse Maria. Teddy and Angel (his dogs) were a great comfort to Lloyd for numerous months. On Sunday, March 7 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., a celebration of life will be held at Lloyds home (Lloyd always loved a party!) which is located at 371 Wildwood Park. In lieu of flowers it is Lloyds wish that we all "Do an act of kindness towards another". God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered "Come with Me". With tear-filled eyes we watched him suffer and fade away Although we loved him deeply, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
