MAE JARVIS Born Florence Mae Isabelle McKone in 1900, daughter of Robert and Emily McKone of Kelwood, MB, Mae Jarvis passed away February 11, 2004 suddenly and peacefully at Golden West Centennial Lodge. Mae was predeceased by her husband, Edgar, in 1972 and by all her siblings. She is survived by her son, Clive, of Tweed, ON and daughter Betty Rogers (Barron) of Winnipeg; four grandchildren, Heather Holland (John), Ian Jarvis (Helen) of Ontario, Beth Rogers (Alan Burke) of Winnipeg and Paul Rogers in Sweden; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan and David Holland, Sarah and Shannon Jarvis, Ethan and Lauren Burke and many nieces and nephews. Mae and Edgar lived most of their lives in rural Manitoba communities and then retired to Winnipeg in 1965. Mae was a devoted wife and mother, active in womens groups in the United Church of Canada and a life member of the Queen Winnipeg Chapter 1 of the Order of the Eastern Star. While a teenager, Mae was officially commended by her community for her work assisting the local physician during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918 and for her continued service after the death of the doctor from the flu. Among her favourite reminiscences of her many trips were sipping cocktails with glacial ice on her Alaskan Cruise, attending a garden party hosted by King Edward VIII at Buckingham Palace, watching eggs fry on the sidewalk during the unprecedented heat wave of 1936 and attending the unveiling of the Vimy Ridge Memorial in France. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for their wonderful care of Mom during these last eight years. You enriched Moms life with your consistently respectful and loving care. A family service and interment in Gladstone Cemetery will take place at a later date. Should family or friends wish, donations may be made in Maes name to Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0S8. THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
