NELLIE KOMISHON A great and gentle lady has left us.....On Friday, March 5, 2004, at West Park Manor, Nellie Komishon peacefully passed on at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her daughters, Hellen Hovmand (Neil) and Marilyn Ford; son Jim Komishon (Ruth) 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Nellie was predeceased by her husband Samuel (1974) daughters, Frances (1973) and Ollie (2003) her six siblings and by her parents, Peter and Mary. Nellie was born in Winnipeg on August 7, 1907. She married in November of 1922 and became a busy homemaker and subsequently a mother of five children. Through the years, Mom and Dads house was always open to relatives and friends. Her love and dedication to her family was a cornerstone of her life right to the end. Mom was famous for her perogies, which she could turn out with dazzling dexterity and taught many people the fine art of making them. Her hands were always busy with cooking, baking, sewing, knitting and crocheting and even up to her final days, kept moving restlessly as if looking for something further to do. Although family, food and friends were her passion, she never forgot her Lord. She was a member of Robertson Memorial United Church for over 45 years and later transferred to Westminster United in 1981. She was a longtime resident of Columbus Courts on Edgeland Boulevard where she spent many happy days with her friends. Nellies funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 13 in Westminster United Church with Rev. Robert Campbell and Pastoral Associate Rose Ferries officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens Cemetery, No. 1 Hwy. East and Navin Road. Pallbearers will be granddaughters, Donna Donaldson, Katherine Komishon-Park; grandsons, Kevin Ford, Gregory Ford, Rodney Ford, Thor Hovmand, Randall Komishon and Glenn Komishon. Our family would like to thank the nurses and entire staff at West Park Manor for their kindness, care and compassion to Mother during her three years there. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made in Nellies memory to the Arthritis Society, 105 - 386 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6. Precious in the Sight of the Lord Is the loss of one of His Saints. Psalm 116 Sadly missed, but lovingly remembered. WOJCIKS ALL BELIEFS & FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
