Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNA ALICE LACOMBE (McINTOSH) Born April 22, 1948 Peacefully on March 4, 2004, Lorna passed away at the age of 55 with her family at her side. Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Partner showed courage, dignity and concern for others during her illness and was very appreciative of the hundreds of visitors over the past few months. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her long time partner Noel Martin; her former husband Wayne Lacombe; her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Jennifer Lacombe, grandchildren, Kelsey, Jordan and Madison; her daughter Lana-Rae and grandson Colton; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Carl Burch; brother-in-law Ted ONeill; nieces and nephews, JennaLee, Shawna, Brittany and Cody Burch, Brad, Jason, Chris and Jillian ONeill; her Aunt Alice Fraser and cousin Sandra Fraser. She was predeceased by her parents, Jean and Preston McIntosh; her older sister Alexie ONeill and nephew David Burch. September 2003 marked the beginning of her 37th year as an early years teacher with the Louis Riel School Division (formerly St. Boniface). She had an extremely positive impact on many of the children she taught over the years and Lorna had an unbelievable talent of remembering almost all of their names. Her friends and family were very proud of her commitment to teaching and she was a true inspiration and role model to her fellow teachers and educators. Her passion for teaching and selfless love for her students was very well known throughout her teaching career. She was an active member of her local teachers association and was always willing to provide support and encouragement to new colleagues entering the profession. She had a degree from the University of Manitoba in Education with majors in both Psychology and Sociology, which was completed while starting a young family. She was born in Rossendale, MB near MacGregor on April 22, 1948 and lived there with her family until moving to Winnipeg in 1967. With her husband Wayne, she built a strong family that shared a tremendous amount of love and many cherished memories. As their children grew up, Lorna and Wayne spent a significant amount of quality family time on the family farm in Rossendale where we all will remember many special moments. As family activities started to take priority, Lorna spent countless years at the hockey rink, baseball fields, dance studio, swimming pool, rodeos, the lake, the campground and wherever else the family went. She spent many years visiting the Lake of the Woods area in Kenora, ON with family and friends. While she was very professional in all that she did, she also knew how to have a great time with family and friends and was always there when they needed her. Lorna cherished her children and especially her grandchildren. She took great pride in all of their accomplishments and provided unconditional love and support to a fault. She especially enjoyed doing the things that Grandmas do best and had a special place in her heart for Kelsey, Jordan and Madison and had made several trips to spend time with Colton and Lana-Rae in Ocala, FL. It was a tradition in the Lacombe household for all three kids to get Grandma on the speaker phone Saturday and Sunday mornings to see what she was up to and how quickly she could come over and take them to the mall or out for lunch or just to hang out and watch movies or play in the yard. Grandma was always there for her grandchildren and the love and endearment was truly mutual. Her grandchildren can rest assured that Grandma will be watching them from Heaven and be just as proud of their accomplishments. In 1993, Lorna met Noel Martin and spent ten wonderful and loving years together living in Windsor Park. They enjoyed the freedom to travel to warm climates during spring break and be carefree during the summer months while on summer vacation. They made several trips to Toronto to spend time with the ONeills at the cottage and enjoyed camping and attending music festivals. They shared many similar interests and were very much enjoying their life together and looking forward to retirement. She became a very active part of Noels family, as did he with her family and their love and respect for each other was undeniable. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive on Tuesday, March 9 at 4:00 p.m. As an expression of love and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Trust of Mrs. Lorna Lacombe", in care of Shamrock School, 830 Beaverhill Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R2J 3K1 (these funds will be donated back to early years school programs and initiatives) or to "CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc.", 675 McDermot Ave. Rm. ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. In so many ways, family and friends will miss Lorna deeply yet the cherished memories and love Lorna shared with us will live in our hearts forever. Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt and loving partner, we are very sad you are now in Heaven but want you to know that we love you and are very proud of you. You will be in our hearts forever. This is many years late but still hold a spot in my heart for Mrs. Lacombe, a wonderful kindergarten teacher. In 2023 I am now reading a Christmas book to my own children that was a gift from her and is signed "Merry Christmas, from Mrs. Lacombe, 1992". Blessings to her family. - Posted by: tyler (former student) on: Nov 20, 2023

I was so fortunate to have had that jewel of a lady in my life, if only for what now seems 12 short years. Still love you my Lady in Red. - Posted by: Noel Martin (Partner) on: May 19, 2023
