VIOLET LAZARENKO (nee ROUBLE) August 5, 1937 - February 29, 2004 Violet Maxine, while returning home with groceries, slipped and fell. A kindly concerned man saw her and called an ambulance. While enroute to Concordia Emergency she passed away. The Creator saw Violet and said "I need some help, would you come with me?" With that said, He cradled Violet in the palm of His hand and took her home to be with her Creator. Violet was predeceased by her father Steve. She will be deeply missed by those left to cherish her memory, her mama Lillian Rouble; sister Gloryia and brother-in-law Dennis Liebrecht; her precious love of her life, nephew and godson Shawn and his wife Colleen Liebrecht, Kyia, Edgey, Nikki, Earl, and Zoo-Zoo; uncle Harry and aunt Ann Maskiw of Edmonton; aunt Elsie Omelan; uncle Alex and aunt Lee Rouble of California; her favourite cousin Al (Elko) Budnick - they had a special bond. Many other cousins and devoted friends and neighbours also cherish her memory. Violet was born at the St. Boniface Hospital. In her younger years, Violet grew up in the Point Douglas area and attended Norquay School. She loved and admired the teachers that taught her. She always said, "It was the best Junior High School in Winnipeg." She also attended St. Johns High School. While attending school, Violet excelled athletically as well as scholastically. Violet was extremely competitive and intelligent. She always managed to be a top student. Violet was a strong writer who wrote many beautiful poems. Much of the literature in the year book (while at Norquay) was Violets work. After completing high school, she continued to take courses at R.R.C.C. and the University of Manitoba. Always eager to broaden her knowledge, she continued to take computer courses in 2002. Violet was employed by the Bank of Montreal, Autopac, Employment and Immigration Canada, Freeman Television and Radio Services, and also volunteered for a variety of Kiwanis Auctions for over 17 years. In addition, Violet loved to work the elections as a deputy returning officer as well as various other capacities. Violets family was the concern of her life: there wasnt anything she wouldnt do for them. She always gave 100% of herself. Violet made the best perishke and holubchy - many people complimented her. We especially loved and will greatly miss her cheese cake along with the delicious dinners that she made. She did not have "worldly riches" per se, but she had a heart of gold. Violet was committed to preserving the environment. She religiously fed the birds and squirrels and loved nature. She also taught ballroom dancing at the Penguin Dance Studio. Visitation will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 7 at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Rd. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. also at Green Acres Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Romas of Springs Church officiating. In accordance with Violets wishes, cremation will follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathies should family and friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Violet to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or any other charity of choice.
